Pedagogy Matters

Dear Neighbor,

Ward 2 DC Council member Brooke Pinto has proposed funding OSSE to lead a cross-agency task force that would develop an action plan, budget and timeline to effectively equip reading instructors with structured literacy training. This is a necessary first step to ensure that students in DC learn how to read by third grade. Those who don’t achieve this milestone are more likely to drop out of high school and to have a lower future earning potential.

Read more about why I'm supporting Councilmember Pinto's proposal in my op-ed in the DC Line. Please help me advance literacy investments in DC by messaging Chairman Mendelson expressing your support of Councilmember Pinto's proposal.
