Literacy Task Force Recommendations and the DC Report Card

Dear Neighbor,

I’m delighted to share the recommendations published by OSSE’s Early Literacy Task Force. I’m honored to have represented the DCSBOE on this Task Force for the past 10 months, and I’m proud of how education agencies across the city have come together to collaborate around a shared, evidence-based plan to advance literacy for DC students. Many thanks to Councilmember Pinto for partnering with me to create the Task Force.

I am honored to have had the opportunity to speak about the recommendations on a live panel along with members of OSSE and the DC Public School system, as well as the DC Deputy Mayor for Education.

DC Report Card Website Feedback

My DCSBOE colleagues and I are working with OSSE to update the 2024 DC School Report Card site. We’re looking for feedback and would appreciate your help to fill out this survey. We’re particularly curious to hear from constituents about what information they would like to see on the DC School Report Card website, as well as what information should be displayed most prominently.

SBOE Public Meeting

Please join me at the next DC SBOE public meeting at 5:30 p.m. on 11/15 at 441 4th St. NW. I encourage all Ward 2 families, educators, and students to sign up to testify before 11/13.

All the best,

Allister Chang
